Legends

There are not many written works of history among the people of Eyru. It isn't that these people don't have the capacity for literacy, it is simply of little value to them. A strong oral tradition has mostly replaced the need for the written word. Indeed, commoners often believe that placing something in written form somehow steals its life and its ability to grow with time. A good memory, not necessarily for details, is the Eyrian substitute for a quill and parchment. In higher circles, books are maintained, though most are ancient tomes dating from before the Divide when the art of Arcane magic was widespread.

The following history of Eyru encompasses several centuries. The common Eyrian could not give you a precise timeline however. Time is of less importance to the people of Eyru than are the overall cycles of life. Giving something a definite place in time would very well be impossible for them. Their history is something of a living thing which brings the great powers of their ancestors to them and in some cases their tragedies as well. However, for a campaign guideline, an approximation of years from the present is listed.

The Tuatha De Danann (2000 years ago)

The High King and the Golden Age (1000 years ago)

The Council of Stone (founded 700 years ago)

The City of Tach (founded 600 years ago)

The Divide (300 years ago)
